About

Kim Mennen discovered her love for photography at an early age with her father’s Canon AE-1. After many years fascinated by classic black and white photos, developing film and darkroom printmaking, Kim went on to study commercial photography at Melbourne’s RMIT University. Whilst managing both her course work and beginning to hone her skills as a freelance photographers assistant, Kim graduated with Distinction. Upon graduating Kim worked full-time as a photographers assistant and producer in one of Australia’s most prestigious studios, engaged in various large scale national and international advertising campaigns.

In her years working along side of some of London, New York and Australia's top photographers,  Kim has developed a keen eye for light and rigorous attention to detail on a vast array of subject matter. Kim’s passion and strongest point is her humanitarian quality towards her photographs. Her portraits, both studio and location based, are a sensitive depiction of life in society - she has an obvious love to carve characters out of light with a fresh and unique vision, finding beauty in all subjects. In particular, her fashion work is youthful and innovative yet still portraying elements of classic elegance, influenced by her admiration of Newton, Avedon and Horst.

Kim's commissions include Qantas, Heinz, Puma, SBS, Target and The Iconic.
